Maybelline Colorsensational Vivid Matte Liquid Lipstick Review 1: Nude Thrill & Nude Flush

"Deck your lips with lots of lip balm - fa la la la la, la la la la

'Tis the season of liquid lipstick - fa la la la la, la la la la

Choose we now, from a variety of shades - fa la la, la la la, la, la, la

Through the wear time, chapped lips we bear - fa la la la la, la la, la, la"

Yes I know, it's not Christmas, it's almost the New Year. But that song was stuck in my head, so there! That being said, it looks like 2016 is going to be the year of the liquid lipstick - every brand seems to be coming out with their version. This also means that there are going to be lots of different formulas out there, which is quite exciting - despite my thinnish lips, I rather like the matte formula in general.

One of the newest releases is from Maybelline, as part of their Colorsensational line. I like this line - they have some of my favorite shades ever (the Vivids Range - super flattering on deeper skins!)  - and so I was really interested in them. I played it safe and picked up the two neutral/nude shades in the line.

MAC Cheek Pollen Blush Review (Faerie Whispers Collection)

I know I've been away for a while. Whoops! At first I was recovering from surgery (it's been 3 weeks since I had it) but I guess the real reason would be... games. See, The Hubby and I got a Playstation 4 over Thanksgiving and we've kind of been hooked onto it (if you value your free time, don't get one of these. Seriously). I've been playing Dragon Age Inquisition and man I'm hooked onto it. It's so addictive! You get to meet people, and kill demons, and collect herbs; there's crafting, and loot, and a questline. Plus bears! And dragons!

(I'm getting way off track here, aren't I?)

That doesn't mean I've stopped all things makeup. I wanted to get this review out because the Faerie Whispers collection was only just recently released, and I think it's got a lot of great stuff!

The collection has seven eyeshadows (in a new, Foiled formula), four lipsticks, four lip glosses, two blushes and two beauty powders. I found most of them rather meh to be honest, because I already own similar shades to the products that did interest me. Well, most of them. Because when I saw the Cheek Pollen blush, I knew I had to have it.

Five Not-Really-Makeup Products I've been Loving Lately

The other day I was using something (that I'm going to talk about more) when it struck me how integral it had become to my daily routine. It wasn't makeup, but it still kinda-sorta had something to do with makeup... does that make sense? I guess you could call these the backstage helpers for makeup products. You don't see them directly, but what they do very much influences the final result.

When I use something on a daily (or almost daily) basis, I have to tell everyone about it. The best part is that these are all affordable!

Sephora Ombre Obsession Face Palette Review

I don't hear a lot of people talking about the Sephora brand, in general. Which is kind of a pity, because they do have some great stuff. For the holidays, they've come out with several releases. The one that was most interesting to me was this palette, of course, given that I'm obsessed (get it? 'Cause it's in the name...) with blushes.

I stumbled across this palette entirely by accident. I'd gone to my local Sephora to swatch the Urban Decay blushes (having side-eyed them for the longest time ever) and of course ended up roaming around, when I saw this. Swatching it in-store impressed me enough to make me pick this up.

Kiko Long Lasting Eyeshadow Stick Review

Oh man, this review is long overdue. It's quite shameful really, that I haven't yet talked about a product that's become a staple in my collection, something I keep reaching for over and over.

When I got these, Kiko was relatively unknown in the U.S. because it wasn't easily available here. Since then, however, Kiko have launched a few brick-and-mortar stores in the States, and more excitingly, have a U.S website from where you can buy their products from! (This has been very exciting for me... and difficult, because how do I stop myself from wanting ALL THE THINGS?)

A quick update about where I've been

Hey everyone!

I know I've been MIA the past week or so. As I mentioned previously, I've been struggling with some health issues of late, and this past week I underwent minor surgery to rectify the issue. It went well (knocks on wood) but I've been a little loopy with painkillers, not to mention the anaesthesia :) I'm getting better daily and hope to be back to my regular posting schedule before the end of the year.

I've begun to realize that I noticed my symptoms a while back, but I was too afraid to go see a doctor. I was scared of potential bad news. It was silly of me, because I could have resolved my health issues earlier if it wasn't for my fears.

Learn from my experience - if something is wrong with you, don't ignore it. It won't go away on it's own! It's best to see a professional about it, and get it solved as soon as possible.

I hope all of you are having a great weekend!

Sephora Luster Matte Long-Wear Lip Color Review: Russet Luster & Deep Plum Luster

Sephora's in-house brand tends to be rather overlooked (with understandable reason - I mean, everyone goes to a Sephora to buy from the makeup brands, right?). But one thing that keeps coming up each time I visit my local Sephora is their lip collection; I've heard a lot of good things about their lip products, and they're considered the hidden gems of the brand. I was browsing across the internet when I came across a mention of their Luster Mattes being a 'dupe' for the Giorgio Armani Ecstasy Lacquer, albeit with a more matte finish. Heck yeah I was intrigued!

NYX Prismatic Eyeshadows Review: Part 2

Continuing from the previous post, I've got a few more of the NYX Prismatic eyeshadows. I spoke about these quite a bit in the last post, so today I'm going to jump right into the review!
