Wet N Wild To Reflect Shimmer Palette Review - Rose Golden Goddess & Carnival In Rio

Continuing with the Wet N Wild highlighter reviews (I reviewed Hollywood Boulevard and Rose Champagne Glow in my last post here), today I'm talking about the other two (well, technically the other one, but we'll get to that in the end).

While Hollywood Boulevard and Rose Champagne Glow were most definitely highlighters, Rose Golden Goddess and Carnival In Rio are not so clearly defined. They're deeper than the first two, and so their function depends entirely on your skin tone.

The packaging is regular black plastic packaging with a transparent lid, through which you can see the shade. The plastic is pretty flimsy though, and I don't think it will travel well.

While the name of the shade is printed on the bottom, I do wish it was bigger, or that it was labelled on the size or something. It's quite difficult to make out the shades sometimes, even through the lid (maybe that's just me though?)

The pan size is pretty big, and the product - being a baked product - is slightly domed on top. It's not super domed though - I'd imagine that should anyone try to depot it, it would fit into a Z-palette with no adjustment required.

These also have veins of different colors running through the product, which slightly alters the final color of the product. The veins are also never identical from one product to the next, so really, it's safe to say that there will be slight variations in the end shade.

Rose Golden Goddess is a shimmery warm-toned golden brown copper with veins of light pink and beige champagne running through it. The final shade is a orange-copper shade with a highly shimmery finish. Used wet, it gives a metallic finish. This is an amazing shade, especially for those with deeper skins (where it would be a highlight). On light and medium skins, this would be a good glowy orange blush-bronzer. It will pretty much only work on warm skin tones, because of the orange in it.

Carnaval In Rio is a shimmery, warm-toned golden copper bronze with veins of brown and champagne. The final shade is a glowy warm bronze. This shade is somewhat similar to Rose Golden Goddess, but it's a few shades deeper, and also doesn't have as much of an orange tone ( basically, not similar at all...). This is another shade I think would look fantastic on warm tones, and deeper skins. You can use this wet, where it will give quite a metallic finish. I've used it damp as an eyeshadow and it looks pretty great!

Both of these are rather dry in texture (similar to the Rose Champagne Glow) but they are very pigmented! So be sure to use a light hand, and build up to the color you want. I had no problem picking up the product on a brush, and applying was easy. It took a little bit of work to blend both out, mainly because they are so pigmented. Because they have a high sheen finish, they do tend to emphasize pores a bit (again, the damn pores. Sigh). Rose Golden Goddess doesn't have any microglitter, but Carnival In Rio has tiny golden microglitter in it. It's not very noticeable, and if you use a fluffy brush after blending the color out you can get most of it off (or what remains after blending anyway!).

On me they last about 4 hours, and both of these fade evenly with no patchiness.

Oh, and in case you're curious - I mentioned both of these when I was reviewing the LE Becca Blushed Copper - these are definitely in the same color family, but they are lighter than the Becca version. So if you shied away from the Becca because of how deep it was, give Rose Golden Goddess a try! I think you'll like it.

Here are swatches of all four of the To Reflect Shimmer palettes:

I think all of these are great products from the drugstore, and I don't think they get enough credit. For the price, you're getting a product that can multitask, and you're getting a lot of it too! And since it's from the drugstore, you can always get these on sale.

BGMM Rating: Rose Golden Goddess - A-
                      Carnival In Rio - B+/A-

PS - Carnival In Rio is being discontinued, and it will be replaced by Hollywood Boulevard. If you're interested in it, make sure you pick it up ASAP! A lot of drugstores have stopped carrying it so you might have to track it down a bit, unfortunately.

  1. Rose Golden Goddess looks very much similar to MAC Stereo Rose or rather in the same colour family...its gorgeous!

    1. It is! And what a price difference to boot :)

  2. They look a lot like the MAC Skinfinishes. I love looking at these swirled colors.

    1. They do remind me very much of the MAC mineralized skinfinishes! I'd say they swatch the same, too.

  3. Carnival Rio is still available in my country, so happy because it match perfectly into my skintone!
