Wet N Wild To Reflect Shimmer Palette Review - Rose Golden Goddess & Carnival In Rio

Continuing with the Wet N Wild highlighter reviews (I reviewed Hollywood Boulevard and Rose Champagne Glow in my last post here), today I'm talking about the other two (well, technically the other one, but we'll get to that in the end).

While Hollywood Boulevard and Rose Champagne Glow were most definitely highlighters, Rose Golden Goddess and Carnival In Rio are not so clearly defined. They're deeper than the first two, and so their function depends entirely on your skin tone.

Wer N Wild Fergie To Reflect Shimmer Palette Review - Hollywood Boulevard & Rose Champagne Glow

Given that the world seems to be going nuts over strobing - what is even up with that, can I ask - everyone seems to be in the search of the next big highlighter. Or, well, something that does the job without breaking the bank, you know?

Ahem.

I have a lot of love for Wet N Wild products - they really do have some lovely products - and I'm not sure why their highlighters aren't more talked about, really. I'm about to rectify that *dun dun DUN*.

ColourPop Lippie Stix in Grunge Review (Limited Edition Fall 2015)

I'm not going to do what I usually do and talk a bunch about this product before coming to a conclusion. Nope, not this time.

What I am going to say is this - if you're medium to deep skinned and/or have even a faint nostalgia when it comes to the 90's, you need to go right now and get this shade. Do it, I'll wait.

Look, I'll be perfectly honest. Back in the 90's, I was a kid. Heck, I was a tomboy as a child and a geek as a teen (who am I kidding, still have the geek force in me) and if you'd asked me what was trendy in the world of makeup at the time I'd have gaped at you.

This shade, however - this collection, in fact - kinda makes me wish I was more into makeup in those days. I'm definitely one of the many who are elated at the fact that the 90's are making a comeback!

The ColourPop Lippie Stix in Grunge is one of several that ColourPop released as part of their 'ColourPop Throws It Back' collection and hoo boy, have they ever.

Guess who fell sick?

So I fell sick over the weekend and feel quite dreadful at the moment, so I don't think I'll be able to get a post up today. I'm hoping it won't affect my posting for the rest of the week! I'm also hoping to get today's post up tomorrow instead (if I feel better, fingers crossed!).

I hope you all had a great weekend!

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows Review (Limited Edition Fall 2015)

For Fall 2015, ColourPop came out with their 'ColourPop Throws It Back' collection (also called, apparently, Back To The 90's) as a homage to the grunge look of the 90's (which I absolutely do not remember because I was full-bodied tomboy during my childhood) so I took it as a chance to re-live the 90's look.

I was very fastidious when choosing what to pick from this collection, because despite it having several lovely shades and sets, I'm trying to stick to colors that I'll actually use. With that thought in mind, I picked up only two of the ten Super Shock shadows available in this range.

MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2 Lipstick Review

MAC's Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2 was released online on September 8th (10th in stores) and I knew I wanted it the moment I saw swatches of it. I pretty much ordered it the day it came out, and I've had it for a couple of days now and have been testing it out.

Now, both the Viva Glam Miley lipsticks are available online on the MAC website, and they're also available in stores.

Just as a reminder, all the proceeds from the Viva Glam line (100% of the price) goes to a charity that helps men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS. That's a pretty fantastic reason to buy this, but the color also makes a compelling reason!

ColourPop Ultra Matte Liquid Lipstick in Beeper and Clueless (Limited edition Fall 2015)

I'm sure everyone and their wallets (hur hur) must have heard of the new matte liquid lipsticks that Colourpop released, so I'm not going to bore you too much with the details. Suffice to say that they came out with a general catalogue collection, and they released eight limited edition shades for Fall.

I picked up two of the neutral shades to try out (but I also have a couple of the general catalogue shades I'll be reviewing sometime soon).

Giving a bit of background on matte liquid lipsticks - they're the trend that's in at the moment. They range from a thicker, mousse-like texture to a thinner, runnier texture. What they have in common is that they apply onto the lips wet, but dry down. They also generally tend to be long lasting.

Milani Bella Eyes Eyeshadow in Dolci Bronze Review (Summer 2015)

Milani, oh Milani. You are one of the reasons why my wallet weeps. I can't resist you... how can I? With all the affordable, wonderful products you have, how is any mortal to resist?

Enough soliloquy, I suppose. The fact is, Milani is one of my favorite drugstore brands, and with good reason. So when I noticed that they'd come out with a Dolci Bronze collection for Summer 2015, I picked up a few pieces from the collection. [The collection includes a lip gloss, lipstick, eye shadow, nail polish and bronzer, all in the shade Dolci Bronze. I haven't been able to determine if this is a limited edition collection or not.]

Becca x Jaclyn Hill Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop Review

Full confession: I didn't know much about Jaclyn Hill before this. I also bought this not for the name, but the shade itself.

I know this is limited edition, but I also know it's still available on the Sephora website, and I'll give you a spoiler alert -

This. Is. So. Pretty.

I mean, I have a lot of things working against me when it comes to highlighters. Oily skin, large pores.. heck, even being brown skinned can work against you when it comes to undertones and like.

So when I really like a highlighter... you better believe I have reason, baby.

MAC Viva Glam Miley Cyrus Lipstick Review

I know MAC's Viva Glam Miley Cyrus 2 is out on September 8th (online - 10th in stores) and it reminded me that I hadn't talked about the first one yet! So here we are.

I really like the MAC Viva Glam line - they partner with some great people, and I really appreciate the fact that they donate all the proceeds to charity. The latest spokesperson is, of course, Miley Cyrus (if you don't know who she is I really don't know what to say!) and despite the controversy that surrounds her I think she's a pretty good choice.

MAC Fix+ Review

Well, I know this isn't a new product, nor is it relatively unknown. As a matter of fact, it's quite the opposite! I've heard a lot of people use this for lots of different things, but I never gave it any thought because, in my mind, it was just fancy water. (Look who has the fancy water now, eh?) Anyway, my friend Jules, who is easily one of the most gorgeous people I know, uses this as a final step and her makeup is always flawless.

I want flawless makeup, too. And so when MAC came out with their limited edition collection of scented MAC Fix+, I was tempted. Veeeeeery tempted. When I saw they had a rose (!!!!) scented one, um, yes please.

Now, despite the fact that I have a limited edition scent, the product itself isn't limited edition, so you can always pick one up should you want it.

The packaging is standard, with the only difference being that the tube is colored (pink, because it's a rose scent!). Otherwise, this Fix+ is the same as the regular one.

The Fix+ is supposed to be a fixing spray, but in my experience I haven't found it to be very good as a fixing spray. That isn't to say it is good at all - you'll see later what I mean.

The spray nozzle is small, with a pinpoint opening. This results in a very fine mist, which means that you don't get too much of the product on your face. I've found this nozzle to be the best one in my experience - all the droplets feel like they're the same size (does that make sense?) unlike, say, my NYX Matte Setting Spray, which dispenses droplets too big for my liking.

The product itself is very mildly rose scented, to my disappointment. I find that my regular old rose water is much more scented than this!  As I mentioned before it isn't particularly good as a setting/fixing spray - I don't find it extends foundation wear time, nor do I find that it controls oil, so it's quite a fail for it's 'marketed' purpose. But what it is particularly good at, and what I've been using it for, has been as a finishing spray. I spray this all over my face once I've applied my foundation, powder, blush, etc., etc. - I find that this spray helps to meld all the products together and give a more natural look. I've also used this to 'foil' my eyeshadows (applying eyeshadows wet makes them more pigmented, and makes the shimmery shades appear almost metallic).

Here's what I mean - the picture on the left is without Fix+ while the one on the right is after application:

You can see how, in the picture on the left, my face looks almost too matte as a result of all the powder on the face. (It has photographed rather well but trust me - in real life it looked horrendously cakey!). The picture on the left looks more natural and skinlike, which I much prefer.

Okay, so those were the positives. The flipside? I don't think this product is all that great. I've been using plain rose water before I got my Fix+ (I decanted it into an empty NYX setting spray bottle) and to be very honest I can't see much of a difference between that and this. Sure, I like the spray nozzle in this, but is it really worth the price? Meh. I'm going to keep using this till it's over, then continue with my rose water.

BGMM Rating: B

Maybelline Clearglow BB Stick Review

(Note - I've tried to search and see if this product is still around but I can't seem to find any information. I'll update this post when I find out more.)

Today I'm talking about a product that's from India. I believe this was the Maybelline's answer to the whole BB trend in India. Actually, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if this was an Asia-exclusive product or if it was only available in India?

But onto the product itself - this is supposed to be a BB cream, but in a stick form. It's designed for oily skin. It's supposed to have a "sebum-resistant formula" which I took to mean as having oil-absorbing ingredients.
