Wet N Wild Fergie eyeshadow palette in Camouflage Couture Review

Have you ever had a makeup itch that you didn't want to scratch, for whatever reason? You know, the "God, I really want this buuuuuut..." feeling?Yeah? Well, I've had one for quite some time now. You see, I've been lusting after the Hourglass palette in Color Field for some time now, drooling over the olives and khakis in it. But.. the price. Oh, the price. Add in the fact that it's got a lot of mixed reviews and.. well let's just say I'm not scratching this particular itch.

Still, I dreamt of greens. And the I came across this palette (while I was getting some milk, incidentally, which makes this so much more random). There I was, striding purposefully to the milk aisle, when I spotted this out of the corner of my eye. Just one glance, and I knew I had to have it, so it came home with me (and the milk).

MAC The Matte Lip Review - Part Two: Kinda Sexy + Velvet Teddy

I'm not going to give too much of an introduction to the MAC The Matte Lip collection since I spoke about them enough in the Part One post.

Today I'm talking about two nude shades that I picked up from this collection. I have to admit these were 'inspired' buys - I'd heard Shrutilaya talk (okay, rave) about Velvet Teddy and so of course I had to get it. And one of my favorite Youtubers, Sharon lists Kinda Sexy as something she adores, so yeah, I had to try that too.

Kinda Sexy and Velvet Teddy is a study of how undertones in a makeup product really matter. You'll see what I mean later in the review - the differences are slight, but quite noticeable, even to my untrained eye.

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette Review

(Apologies for the slight delay in posting this! I had some things to take care of.)

It's rare I come across a product where I just can't make my mind up as to whether I like it or not. I like to think of myself as someone with strong opinions (when it comes to makeup, at least) and it's easier for me to work with a product once I know how I feel about it, you know?

The product in question is the Too Faced Natural Matte palette, which is supposed to be the all-matte version of their Natural Eyes palette. This palette got me all excited because 1. I love me some good matte eyeshadows, and 2. Lord knows I can't get enough of neutral shades. This just seemed like absolute perfection to me.

Sephora Oil Infusion Color & Care Review

Earlier this year, YSL came out with a lip product called Tint-in-Oil. IT was touted as this revolutionary way to wear your lip color - essentially a "lip tint suspended in a deep conditioning oil". I was really curious about this product, but it cost quite the pretty penny. So when I saw the Sephora Oil Infusion on the Sephora website, ping! A lightbulb went of in my head, I knew I needed to try them.

The Sephora Oil Infusion ($14 each) is touted as a "translucent balm-in-oil formula". It also promises a "new sensorial experience", whatever that means.

I don't have the YSL Tint-in-Oil, so I can't make any comparisons between that and this Sephora version. I will be reviewing this product by itself.

Changes, changes everywhere!

Hey everyone!
As you might have seen I'm making some changes to the blog. So far it's a mixed bag of tricks and I'm trying to iron everything out, and I hope that all these issues work out by the end of the week. Let me know is something is off/not working/totally wonky and I'll get right to sorting it out!

Your patience and continued support is highly appreciated :D

Dupe Or Dud: Bioderma Sensibio Micellar Solution vs Simple Cleansing Micellar Water

I have no idea how everyone came to know of Bioderma's now-infamous micellar cleansing solution, but I do know it was raved about because it was a gentle, soothing way to take off makeup, making it perfect for sensitive skins. Since then, there have been numerous other such micellar solutions offered by so many other companies. The first company to essentially "dupe" the Bioderma version was Simple, and this has been praised in it's own merit. However, the Simple micellar water is rumored to be a dupe for the Bioderma, and I wanted to test this theory out.

I have been using the Bioderma version for many months last year, but decided to switch to the Simple version because (1) it was cheaper, and (2) I was curious to see how it performed. Since my bottle of Bioderma ran out, Jules very generously offered to send me a sample of it.

What is a micellar water? A micellar solution is one that has a dispersion of micelles in a solvent (the solvent usually being water). But what is a micelle? A micelle is a molecule cluster. Each molecule in the cluster has two regions: the outer "head" and the inner "tail". The "head" of the molecule is hydrophilic, i.e it loves water, while the inner "tail" hates water. These molecules orient themselves in a sphere, so that the outer region is exposed to water, while the inner region is hidden away from water. Basically, this allows two chemicals that don't mix, to be mixed - especially oil and water. The oil is present in the inner region of the micelle, while the outer region allows interaction with water. Pretty neat, huh?

ColourPop Super Shock Shadows Review (Limited Edition Summer 2015)

You know the usual spiel - ColourPop came out with some new shades for summer. At first, I resisted. "No" I said, "I don't need them". Next thing you know I ordered four of them! (You'll see why). I meant to review them, "Immediately". I even took pictures and everything!

I meant to have this review up, like, two weeks ago. And then I don't know what happened. I was worried that they were no longer available, but upon checking the website, I discovered they still are available, so yay! All hope is not lost.

So that being said, let's talk about ColourPop Summer 2015 eyeshadows!

Pick or Purge - Mascara

Hello and welcome to the ongoing series Pick Or Purge - where I comb through a particular product in my makeup stash and decide what to keep and what to discard.

Last time I went over my concealer stash and drastically edited it; today I'm going to be tackling my mascara lot!

I actually only started wearing mascara around the middle of last year - so, for about a year now. I've never really felt the need for mascara (it's funny how I find myself saying that about a lot of makeup that I now "can't do without" :P) because I think I have decently long lashes and sometimes just curling them seems to do the job.

Still, I wanted nice, lush lashes like in the adverts - of course, I know now that it's all due to false lashes and Photoshop! - but I got hooked along the way and now if I want to look really nice I have to wear mascara.

Since I have fairly long lashes, I'm not too particular about a lengthening mascara, but I do look for one that will give me volume.

I have a couple that I really like, but few that I really like enough to fully commit.

MAC The Matte Lip Collection Review - Part One: Persistence + Stone + Whirl

There was a lot of excitement in the makeup world when news came out that MAC was going to come out with a matte lip collection. Why? Because in the collection was Whirl (I no longer remember what the fuss was all about with regards to this shade, but I'm fairly sure it had something to do with Kylie Jenner and her signature lip) and Stone (because of the huge grey-based lip color that started with Lime Crime's Cashmere and spread like wildfire from there).

I'm a sucker for mattes. I'm a sucker for lipstick. I tend to fall for the hype.

You know where this is going, right? Of course you do! It's right there in the title.

Yup, I had to get myself a few from this collection. There are 22 shades in this collection, and the good news is that they're all permanent. That's right, no need to rush out and search high and low to get your hands on these shades. Another thing to note is that some shades in this collection are repeats.

I picked up eight shades from this collection (I know you guys, I know!). I'm dividing my reviews into three groups: the "exciting" shades (Persistence, Whirl, Stone), the"nude" shades (Kinda Sexy, Velvet Teddy) and the "non-neutral" shades (Men Love Mystery, Instigator, Tropic Tonic).

Phew! Let's jump into today's review.

theBalm Nude Tude vs Nude Dude Comparison

I've already reviewed the Nude 'Tude and Nude Dude palettes separately, so I'm not going to be talking about what I think of them. This post is mainly for comparison purposes. I was curious to see if there was any overlap between the two palettes, and if so, how much of an overlap.

I mainly tried to focus on shades that seemed to have some similarity, either in pan or when I was swatching.

theBalm Nude Dude Palette Review

So on Wednesday I reviewed the version one of theBalm's neutral palette offerings, the Nude 'Tude palette. Following in the footsteps of all companies who decided to take the success of neutral palettes further (here's looking at you, Urban Decay!) they released the Nude Dude palette.

The Nude Dude palette is a neutral palette containing twelve eyeshadows. The name is cute, and relates to the original. And like it's big sister, it has a very fun packaging.

theBalm Nude 'Tude Palette Review

Today I'm going to be talking about something that's been in the market for quite sometime now... a product that is, in my humble opinion, not spoken about enough. I'd go so far as to say the brand as a whole is rather under-rated, which baffles me.

When people talk about neutral palettes, Urban Decay's Naked line comes immediately to mind. But what happens if you don't like the formula of the Naked palettes? Or if you feel that it doesn't have enough finishes? Well, let me point you to an alternative - theBalm Nude Tude palette.

ColourPop Mondays In Malibu Super Shock Shadow Set Review

Phew! This review has finally made it to the blog. I've been meaning to put this up for quite some time now, but life happened. And by that I mean my mom was here visiting me (woohoo!) and as every Indian kid can attest, when your mom is around you get all the good food. Seriously! Mr. BGMM loves my mom because he gets so spoiled with all the yummy food he got when she was here. It's also been so wonderful spending time with her, I miss her so much when she's not around.

Anyway, moving on to the review - I spoke about the Sundays In Silverlake set last (review here if you missed it) and I was left feeling slightly underwhelmed. I'm glad to report that this set I had a lot more affection for!

This set is still available on the ColourPop website, so you can still get hold of it if you want to!
